Headlines come and go, attention waxes and wanes. The mystery of who killed Robert Wone has faded somewhat from public attention of late. But one thing remains constant: at least one person out there knows how Robert Wone was murdered, and there’s no shortage of people who want to find them.

Add to that list Paul Wagner. An ace reporter for Fox 5 DC, Wagner has made investigating unsolved crime and mystery his specialty.

“What motivates me is the thrill of the investigation,” Wagner writes in his bio. “Piecing together a story like a detective works a case.”

And few cases have drawn on Wagner’s detective spirit as long as the Wone murder. This week, Wagner launches a new multi-part podcast called Missing Pieces.

“9 years after 3 men were acquitted on Obstruction of Justice & Conspiracy charges in the murder of Robert Wone the Prosecutor in the case @glennkirschner2 gives his first extensive comments about the evidence and the trial,” Wagner announced on Twitter. “Coming this Tuesday a @fox5dc Missing Pieces podcast.”

“I have been fascinated and haunted by Robert’s murder from the day I heard the police say the scene had been cleaned up. I have followed hundreds of murder cases in the Washington area for years but this one stands out for the mystery that endures,” Wagner tells us.

His questions are the same that have puzzled everyone who’s explored the case. Was Robert lured into a trap? Was he sexually assaulted? Why were there no defensive wounds, and why did police believe he and the scene had been cleaned up?

Add to that enduring questions about the murder weapon, Victor’s bizarre 9-1-1 call, doubts about the “intruder theory” and much more, and Wagner and his interview subjects are left exactly where we were 13 years ago: lots of suspicions, very little certainty.

Of course, there are three people who could no doubt shine light into the mystery. They notably refused to cooperate with the investigation, and as Wagner points out, have gone silent since.

“I believe the real story -the true story is only in the hands of the three men who were in the house that night. In my interview with Glenn Kirschner he says the same.”

These days, Glenn is frequently seen on NBC and MSNBC as a legal analyst and contributor. He’s gone on to form the murder victims’ advocacy organization, Homicide Family Advocates, whose mission is “to support and advocate for families of homicide victims by interfacing with police, prosecutors and the courts.”

We’re honored to join Glenn as part of Paul’s 8 episode series on the crime. It can be found on the WTTG website starting Tuesday. Look for “The Mystery on Swann Street” under the Missing Pieces series.

I have enjoyed the four episodes of the podcast. I randomly ran across it as I was subscribed to the podcast for the mansion murders. It is hard to believe more than ten years has passed. I do remember reading everything on this site back then. Oh the memories.
