Thanks for the reminder. THIS time I’ve actually put the check in the mail, since I’ve forgotten when reminded earlier. This is a wonderful way to honor Robert. I spoke with the law firm (Holtzman Vogel in Warrenton) collecting the checks and was told the memorial fund is being administered through the Community Foundation of Wash DC, and the organizations benefitting were selected by Kathy and Robert’s parents. I was told of 3 organizations that Robert favored, but since we do not know for sure that the money is targetted to them, I won’t identify them here.

Robert’s death represents a sad moment for the DC legal community, as does the fact that his murder remains unsolved after four years.
I spent a few minutes today reading about Robert’s many activities and personal qualities, and am impressed by their nature and scope, both within and outside the legal field. Robert packed a lot of life in his 32 years.
To his family and friends, particularly his wife, Kathy, and his parents, I extend my deep sorrow at his untimely death.

Rest in Peace, Robert.
And may God hold Kathy and the entire Wone family close in His loving arms.

I am still angry, sad, and frustrated. There was a true crime show about a parent of a murder victim who followed the killer around and would drive over to the killer’s home and sit there watching him everyday. Finally, the killer committed suicide. If only we could all trail around the likely suspects and force someone, someday, to speak the truth about what really happened.
Or perhaps it was a show about an innocent man hounded into taking his own life by an obsessed woman who had made a terrible mistake.

What happened four years ago at around this time was still remains unclear. All we know is a great young man was brutally murdered. My heart goes out to Wone family. And I hope the justice would be done some day in some way.

May justice eventually prevail with those guilty finally brought to account. May Robert’s legacy dwarf the self-interested polonaises of his former “friends” at Swann. Accordingly, four more plus many more for Robert’s legacy; much less than four more for his justice!

I only wish that Kathy could be celebrating Robert’s birthday with him this evening. My condolences as well.
Yikes – tremendous mistake on my part – I knew this all day long, awful to have a senior moment. Then, I wish this were just an ordinary night for the young Wone family, that this date meant nothing to them.

I wonder how Robert’s killer feels around this time of year. Sometimes I try to put myself in his shoes that night:
“Well, it’s Wednesday night, and as I know, Wednesday night is the night that I like to murder people. Hmmm, but as usual, the tricky part is murdering someone AND getting away with it! Of course there’s no better place to murder someone scot-free than in Dupont Circle. So off I go, doo-doo-doo, la-la-la… oh, this random townhouse on Swann St looks like the ticket! Right in the middle of the row, too! But don’t I think that’s kind of risky, considering the close neighbors and likelihood that more than one person lives here?
Oh, who cares, I’m already here and I need to KILL SOMEONE! Alright, I’ll just head around back and jump this god damn fence and hopefully the backdoor is unlocked. WELL WHATDYA KNOW?? First house I’ve tried all night, and the backdoor is unlocked! What are the chances?? This must be my lucky day. ‘Cuz you know, otherwise I’d have to break a window like I normally do when I’m trying to murder someone in their own home. Okay, here I go… d’oh! A door chime?! Blast it! Someone might have heard that. Buuut… then again, maybe no one heard it. I’ll take my chances! Oh snap, I forgot to bring my murder weapon. Hmmm I’ll just grab this knife from the kitchen and head on upstairs.
This place is REEEALLY nice… can’t wait to murder someone. Doo-doo-doo, hmmm no one’s downstairs, so I guess I’ll head up… doo-doo-doo, alright, will it be door number one, or door number two? I’ve got a hunch on door number two. Here we go… oh, WOW! This is great. This is just fantastic. This guy is OUT FOR THE COUNT! Why is he sleeping on a pull-out bed? Ah well who cares, I need to murder someone like right now. I’ll just creep on over… Okay, I’m gonna have to do this real quick like, so… STAB, STAB, STAB! Nice work!
I’ll just leave the knife right here and… OOOKAAAY LET’S GET OUTTA HERE, WOOOOOOOOOO MAN, GLAD THAT GUY ONLY MADE A LOW GRUNT SOUND WHEN I STABBED HIM, MIGHT TAKE A WHILE FOR THE REST OF THE HOUSE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND CALL 911! another murder in the books! … DAMN, another chime! oh well, gotta get home and watch desperate housewives on my DVR, can’t waste any more time murdering witnesses or anything…”
That’s how I imagine it went down.
I didn’t know Robert, but I know now that he was the coolest guy. Rest in peace, brother.
Yesterday I said a prayer for Mr. Wone and his family.
Very sad that it has been four years and no justice for him. I hope that his widow and other family members are able to remember the positive things that he did for other people and that will give them some modicum of comfort.

Robert’s birthdate is June 1. August 2 is the fourth anniversary of his death. And still no answers.
