Walking High Wire, Here She Comes.
UPDATE: Bruce DePuyt announces at the top of the show that Chief Lanier has cancelled her appearance.
Once again, Washington’s dauntless Chief of Police Cathy Lanier will be taking to the air for a live Q&A with viewers.
Thursday from 4 to 5pm, Chief Lanier will be a guest on News Channel 8’s “NewsTalk” program. Hosted by ace local reporter Bruce DePuyt, viewers can email their questions to newstalk@news8.net.
Although the Chief will likely still avoid saying anything specific about the Wone case – other than it’s very, very…very…active – we do hope Mr. DePuyt and viewers will take the opportunity to ask her about the larger issues of MPD errors and procedures unearthed in this investigation. Some of them can be found here.
Start emailing, phone-banking and set those TiVo’s!
We’ll post her responses, and transcript/video stream when they become available.

Has Bruce DePuyt reported the (re)discovery and implications of the handwritten police notes yet? If not, does he plan to do so in the future?
I don’t think so Clio. This revelation, a bombshell to case watchers, has caused very few ripples outside of these pages.
WTTG got it mostly right in their report, but we’re still waiting for others to chase the story.
She cancelled again? Oh for heaven sakes.
I’ve scoured the papers and news sites this morning and can’t find anything about the Chief from yesterday. I wonder what was up…
Bruce says that her people — may have sensed that a tidal wave was coming her way. Also, the union people were ready to go ballistic over budget stuff.

Does the Chief have a habit of cancelling media appearances? Or, “something suddenly came up,” as on that Brady Bunch episode of over a generation ago?
