Time Is Running Out We’ve all had 72 hours to contemplate the outcome of this trial, and have just 24 more to go. For those who decided to stay indoors away from the heat and catch up on the Defense’s Motion to Acquit and the Government’s Opposition,  many perhaps have formed an opinion on the decision...

Day 22: Wrap

The Patchwork of Suspicious Circumstances The final session of the final day of the Wone trial featured some of the strongest argument yet, from both sides.  David Schertler, for Dylan Ward, closed for the defense, and Rachel Carlson Lieber for the government’s rebuttal argument. First, the earlier session with Connolly.  He stated Zaborsky, “…didn’t have any...

Opening Statements: Defense

Team Swann Returns Fire After AUSA Glenn Kirchner’s lengthy opening statement on May 17, the defense team took over and in succession delivered passionate and relatively tight rebuttals to the prosecutor’s summary of the many allegations of tampering and cover up. We heard repeatedly that neither Price, Ward or Zaborsky had any motive to hurt Robert,...

The Chief Lays Out His Case In Chief Maria Allison, RPR, retired last week as an Official Court Reporter for the DC Superior Court.  We think we know why she packed it in. Maria was at the keyboard on Monday, May 17, when US v. Price, Ward and Zaborsky was first gaveled into session and prosecutor AUSA...

Day 6: Wrap

State of Mind Today’s session focused mainly on the videotape playback of defendants Joe Price and Dylan Ward, but also featured new testimony from the lead MPD investigator who conducted the questioning, Detective Sergeant Daniel Wagner. While his tape was playing, Price, again, didn’t once look at the screen. Ward watched intently while Victor Zaborsky kept his...

Day 4: Updates

2:30pm Update: Adjournment The triple cross of Deputy Medical Examiner Lois Goslinoski wrapped up at 1:45pm in today’s shortened trial day. She was hit repeatedly on her opinions, credentials (to a degree) and whether she was pressured by the government to identify which knife may have been more consistent with being the actual murder weapon. Judge Leibovitz...

Day 3: Wrap

The Pace Picks Up Six things we learned today: 1: Needle Marks.  EMT Jeff Baker made the point repeatedly that the needle puncture marks found in the autopsy were not from any efforts to resuscitate Robert either at 1509 Swann or en route to George Washington University Hospital.  This, despite the defense best efforts to knock...

4:45pm: Adjournment update Kirschner’s direct of ME Lois Goslinowski ended with him getting the testimony he may have wanted from her.  She said in 45 stabbing cases she’s done, Robert’s is the first where “there was no indication of movement in the torso or extremities.” The ME’s finding also indicated 2000 milliliters of blood was recovered...

Purpose of this Site

On August 2nd, 2006, Washington attorney Robert E. Wone was murdered at 1509 Swann Street. Over two years passed before any criminal charges were filed - and then only conspiracy, obstruction of justice and crime scene tampering charges were brought against the Swann Street housemates, all present in the home on the night of the murder: Joe Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky.

On May 17, 2010, a DC Superior Court trial got underway and all three defendants were all acquitted in that bench trial on those pending charges.

Nearly four years later, very little seems clear about what happened that night and who murdered Robert Wone. A cloud of suspicion remains over the Swann Street defendants who have denied any involvement in the murder of their friend or in the alleged cover up.

Judge Lynn Leibovitz found a moral certainty in their collective guilt, but not evidentiary certainty. Civil proceedings in a wrongful death suit filed by Robert's family is the next chapter in this tragic story.

We continue to work together seeking answers to the mystery of Robert Wone's murder and in finding justice for his memory and legacy.
