Catch-22 @ 1509

Catch-22 @ 1509

“Well, he died.  You don’t get any older than that.” Tara Adams Ragone, a close friend of both Robert and Joe Price from William and Mary days, testified last Wednesday.   Her testimony was loaded and her credibility seemed solid. Herself a lawyer, Ragone chose her words carefully.  Her many words.  She challenged the court reporter like no other witness...

Henry Lee Is Back In The Swann Street Saddle

Henry Lee wants to get his eyes on the white towel  When we last heard about Dr. Henry Lee, famed forensic expert for  notorious defendants, now convicts, such as Scott Peterson and Phil Specter, he would be unable to test physical evidence in the Robert Wone case because trial deadlines were interfering with his packed travel...

Has The Swann Street Three-Way Always Been A Two-Way Street?

Joe and Victor Jumped to Dylan’s Defense; Why Didn’t Dylan Reciprocate? Throughout the investigation into the murder of Robert Wone, the Metropolitan Police Department maintained that the Swann Street defendants told a consistent story about what happened on the evening of August 2, 2006.  Diane Durham’s statement was the first to question the authenticity...

Craig's List

Twenty for Twenty-Ten We learned quite a bit over the course of 2009.  Among the highlights: MPD Officer Diane Durham’s end-of-shift statement that contradicted the Trouple’s story on where they discovered Robert; the fact that all three of the housemates either left their places of employment voluntarily or not; a change in judges for the...

Dismissive

Government Beats Back Motion to Dismiss In the latest motion filed in the Wone case, the government responded in opposition to the defense’s joint motion to dismiss counts one (conspiracy to obstruct justice) and two (obstruction of justice) of the indictment with direct and deliberate language that at times lays bare the “…Defendants’ contorted legal...

Why introducing the BDSM aspect is probative One of the thresholds the judge must determine is whether the value of evidence is more probative than prejudicial when deciding what evidence makes it to trial.  If it is deemed probative, then it helps explain the crime, and thus meets the standard.  Or the judge could say...

Waving the Bloody Shirt

What did Joe Price see that no one else did? Both the Government and defense have retained expert witnesses.   At the September 11 status hearing, the defense talked about the difficulties of coordinating tests with one of theirs in California.  The Government however has hired local; a blood spatter expert from Northern Virginia is on board. ...

The Kitchen Debate

The Smallest Part of the Defendant’s Story May Have Big Problems. Gazing into the confined black box that is 1509 Swann on August 2nd, 2006, there’s no detail too mundane that doesn’t deserve a second look.  We don’t presume guilt on anyone’s part…nor do we presume innocence.  But given the convoluted strands that come from...

Blood Sport

Durham’s statement sheds new light on blood found in Robert’s duodenum Diane Durham’s statement that the defendants found Robert on the first floor, and Gary Reals’ reporting that the body may have been moved twice, together make a compelling reason to re-examine the evidence and conclusions reached by the medical examiner.  Both Durham’s and Reals’...

Judgment at Nurenberg

Nine News Now, Nine News Then… Last Thursday afternoon we got a call from Gary Nurenberg, ace reporter from DC’s CBS affiliate, WUSA-TV, channel 9.  Gary was working on a piece about the Wone case and wanted to update his audience on recent developments as well as possible failures in the investigation.  Nurenberg had only a minute...

Purpose of this Site

On August 2nd, 2006, Washington attorney Robert E. Wone was murdered at 1509 Swann Street. Over two years passed before any criminal charges were filed - and then only conspiracy, obstruction of justice and crime scene tampering charges were brought against the Swann Street housemates, all present in the home on the night of the murder: Joe Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky.

On May 17, 2010, a DC Superior Court trial got underway and all three defendants were all acquitted in that bench trial on those pending charges.

Nearly four years later, very little seems clear about what happened that night and who murdered Robert Wone. A cloud of suspicion remains over the Swann Street defendants who have denied any involvement in the murder of their friend or in the alleged cover up.

Judge Lynn Leibovitz found a moral certainty in their collective guilt, but not evidentiary certainty. Civil proceedings in a wrongful death suit filed by Robert's family is the next chapter in this tragic story.

We continue to work together seeking answers to the mystery of Robert Wone's murder and in finding justice for his memory and legacy.
