CASE NUMBER: 06-1837

The Toxicology Report For the past three years, case watchers have held many unanswered questions regarding several aspects of drugs, testing and blood samples.  Both prosecution and defense teams have shared some of those questions. In the original affidavit, the government theorizes that prior to his stabbing Robert Wone was injected with paralytics.  They base this on two...

Craig's List

Twenty for Twenty-Ten We learned quite a bit over the course of 2009.  Among the highlights: MPD Officer Diane Durham’s end-of-shift statement that contradicted the Trouple’s story on where they discovered Robert; the fact that all three of the housemates either left their places of employment voluntarily or not; a change in judges for the...

Lab Bench, Back Bench

Hey, Hey DNA!   What Can You Do For Us Next May? There’s quite a bit to pick through after last week’s motions and status hearing. Start with the headline from Friday’s status hearing, “Win, Lose or Draw.”   Just what did Bernie Grimm mean by that?  Was he revealing a defense strategy? A large part of Friday’s hearing had the...

Blood Sport

Durham’s statement sheds new light on blood found in Robert’s duodenum Diane Durham’s statement that the defendants found Robert on the first floor, and Gary Reals’ reporting that the body may have been moved twice, together make a compelling reason to re-examine the evidence and conclusions reached by the medical examiner.  Both Durham’s and Reals’...

Standard Operating Procedure

Questions for Chief Lanier About The Investigation As weeks pass here at WMRW, we seem to amass more questions than answers.  About the circumstances of Robert’s murder, its prosecution, and the principle and secondary players involved.  Frustrating as it is, this seems natural in a complex case such as this. Unfortunately there’s also a growing list of...

The "Real" Killer

Will the “Real” Killer Please Stand Up Recently, the editors here at WMRW.com gathered for dinner to discuss the case with a friend who has known the defendants.  His take on the case has evolved.  When he first heard about the murder in August of 2006, he thought for sure it was an intruder.  Over the...

Erik Prince Trumps Kathy Wone >> Updated throughout;  Additional Video The good news:  Judge Frederick Weisberg finally got around to setting a trial date in the matter of U.S. v. Towel Boys

Now You See It, Now You Don’t One care barely flip a page in the original affidavit without coming across another seemingly inconsistent or curious statement jumping out.   A couple of Victor Zaborsky’s don’t seem to match up. Page 1 of the affidavit is the transcript of Victor’s call to 9-1-1.  After dialing he is instructed...

Purpose of this Site

On August 2nd, 2006, Washington attorney Robert E. Wone was murdered at 1509 Swann Street. Over two years passed before any criminal charges were filed - and then only conspiracy, obstruction of justice and crime scene tampering charges were brought against the Swann Street housemates, all present in the home on the night of the murder: Joe Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky.

On May 17, 2010, a DC Superior Court trial got underway and all three defendants were all acquitted in that bench trial on those pending charges.

Nearly four years later, very little seems clear about what happened that night and who murdered Robert Wone. A cloud of suspicion remains over the Swann Street defendants who have denied any involvement in the murder of their friend or in the alleged cover up.

Judge Lynn Leibovitz found a moral certainty in their collective guilt, but not evidentiary certainty. Civil proceedings in a wrongful death suit filed by Robert's family is the next chapter in this tragic story.

We continue to work together seeking answers to the mystery of Robert Wone's murder and in finding justice for his memory and legacy.
