This Space For Rent Longtime reader and always smart contributor Hoya Loya weighs in again.  In a guest commentary he tackles the perennially thorny subject of whether there was anything consensual going on at Swann Street on August 2, 2006. We love taking the occasional day off and welcome insightful and thorough reader contributions like this (already grammar and...

Government Turns Over Discovery Information Last week, the government laid out their blueprint for the prosecution of this case. Now, in the most recent filing, AUSA Glenn Kirschner opened up his toolbox to reveal just how he will accomplish his task. What is curious is this discovery summary isn’t part of the public record (yet) and only showed up...

Not Safe For Wone Last week’s filing of the Government’s Notice of Uncharged Conduct I generated a fair amount of light and heat in the Robert Wone case.  The ‘light’ column features highlights of the government’s position – that the murder investigation “…continues”, that the “…killer is someone know to and being protected by...

Henry Lee Is Back In The Swann Street Saddle

Henry Lee wants to get his eyes on the white towel  When we last heard about Dr. Henry Lee, famed forensic expert for  notorious defendants, now convicts, such as Scott Peterson and Phil Specter, he would be unable to test physical evidence in the Robert Wone case because trial deadlines were interfering with his packed travel...

Kitchen Nightmares

What’s Cooking with Chef Ward?   << Updated>> The first whiff we get that the Swann Street housemates were less than gracious hosts is in the affidavit.  According to their statements, they spent from 1030pm – 1100pm talking in the kitchen with Robert with only water on the menu.  Their bad manners have already been picked apart a...

Double Edged Sword

Double Edged Sword

The Missing Knife – that says it all, or does it? The knife used to murder Robert Wone is one of the most perplexing pieces of physical evidence in a most bewildering case. The prosecution claims the knife found on the night stand next to Robert’s body was not the weapon used to commit the murder. That knife,...

Snow Job

Digging out in McLean The federal government is shut down again today, Capital Area citizens are still digging out from the two feet of snow.  And yet another storm is forecast for Tuesday.  We’re all suffering from cabin fever. The only wmrw.com staffer working this weekend was editorial cartoonist Thomas Nasty.  Impressed by the work on...

As Seen On TV

The January 15 Status Hearing DC Superior Court’s steam-powered rule that prohibits TV coverage of hearings has long vexed both seasoned journalists and cub reporters alike. Not dissuaded, and taking a cue from the rascals who are reenacting the Prop 8 proceedings in California (the federal civil trial concerning the legality of same sex marriage), we offer a similar...

Purpose of this Site

On August 2nd, 2006, Washington attorney Robert E. Wone was murdered at 1509 Swann Street. Over two years passed before any criminal charges were filed - and then only conspiracy, obstruction of justice and crime scene tampering charges were brought against the Swann Street housemates, all present in the home on the night of the murder: Joe Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky.

On May 17, 2010, a DC Superior Court trial got underway and all three defendants were all acquitted in that bench trial on those pending charges.

Nearly four years later, very little seems clear about what happened that night and who murdered Robert Wone. A cloud of suspicion remains over the Swann Street defendants who have denied any involvement in the murder of their friend or in the alleged cover up.

Judge Lynn Leibovitz found a moral certainty in their collective guilt, but not evidentiary certainty. Civil proceedings in a wrongful death suit filed by Robert's family is the next chapter in this tragic story.

We continue to work together seeking answers to the mystery of Robert Wone's murder and in finding justice for his memory and legacy.
