Lanier On Line One

Go Ahead Caller, You’re Next…

We’ve confirmed that Chief Cathy Lanier of the DC MPD will be on WTOP Radio’s “Ask The Chief” program this Thursday at 10am.   Here is where you can go to submit questions in advance by email, and of course you can dial in live starting 10am at 1-877-222-1035.

Go ahead caller...

MPD Chief Cathy Lanier

At the time of the three year anniversary of Robert’s murder, Chief Lanier told WJLA-TV the Wone investigation was “…very active,” and that no further comment on the case could be made.

More recently, the Chief told NewsChannel 8 that the investigation was “…very, very active…not a done deal by any means.”

We have several questions for the Chief, and no doubt you do as well.  While it sounds like she may not answer any direct questions about the case – due to it’s “…very, very…” active status – it does seem right that she be questioned on some of the short-comings and mis-steps in MPD procedures and policies this case has illuminated.

And at the very least, it would be helpful to let the Chief, the MPD and the rest of D.C. know there are many others who consider this case very, very active.

How does one distinguish “very very active”. from “very very VERY active?”

“Very, very active” could mean any of the following: a disingenuous excuse not to comment on an increasingly cold case, a misplaced hope that the investigation is close to being finished, a thinly-veiled surveillance of the trouple in McLean Hamlet, and/or a semi-covert pursuit of witnesses beyond the named defendants. The “very” level does not go to ALL CAPS/red alert for Team Price, though, until one of the “ladies” — Victor or Sarah — sings. Thus, until that widely-anticipated, soprano serenade, the “verys” coming from “Cathy with a C” are not very, very significant. Very, very frustrating, indeed!

We got a question into the Chief this morning on the status of the investigation. We’ll post the stream of the program shortly.

Did you get an additional “very”?

Very, very, very active. Or should that be four? I’ve lost count.
