The Blogosfear

WordPress stats are limited but one feature shows incoming Google searches.

Paul Duggan’s Washington Post series and Tim Arango’s piece in the New York Times triggered all sorts of search terms we saw in the dashboard.

Google boys

In the wake of all that ink, searches for Victor Zaborsky outnumbered those for Price or Ward by a factor of two and three to one.

This is an anomaly from the past several months in which Joe and Dylan seemed to dominate, no pun intended.

The stats indicate other trends.  Judging by the number of times it’s been plugged into Google, culuket has in some small way become part of the lexicon.

What else is top of mind with those looking for more information on the case?

man murdered by three friends in washington,  where does joe price live,  joe price wone alt,  eye candy dvds,  joe price legal defense fund,  smart in your world,  wone email plea financial help price zab,  price washington lawyer murder, tom john and sarah morgan,  sarah morgan wone, michael price drugs gay wone,  electroejaculation swann murder,  wone ward s&m cover-up,  dylan ward wone crystal meth,  dylan ward sex toys,  dylan ward and crew club,  grimm and wone,  robert wone murder and what happened

And occasionally we get a stray: “washington post” obituary “jack benny”

Another Google algorithmic twist seen is with the online ads that crop up in the rotation on the Post‘s Wone investigation page.  Draw your own conclusions.

“Sex Offender Registry”

If the shoe fits.

It’s also interesting to see the important aspects of the Swann Street saga that people are not Googling as much as the listed topics. Of the women directly or indirectly impacted/involved in this drama, only “tenant” and “friend” Sarah Morgan has garnered even a glimmer of attention. Of course, whatever Sarah did (or did not do) that fateful evening is becoming increasingly relevant to the resolution of what exactly happened. But other women may be just as important in the eventual outcomes of this ongoing tragedy. The latest “Tiger Aunt” of Victor is sheltering the three “Naughty Jacks” in McLean, preventing them from becoming the “Loneliest Trees in the World.” The mothers of the Zaborsky-Price children are hopefully sheltering them from the public scrutiny that the case has finally gotten. The mother of the Price brothers, a mother who apparently escaped the piney woods of east Texas through military service, shaped young Joe and Michael in “her combat boots,” bringing them eventually to Bourne, Massachusetts. The “Bourne Identities” of (at least one of) the Price brothers certainly stemmed in part from her strength and ambition. Finally, the strength, dignity, and pain of Kathy Wone cannot be overemphasized. So, at the risk of being politically incorrect, this case confirms the unfortunate trope that men make the messes that women have to endure/clean up.

a texas mom in her combat boots must be so proud of how michael and joe price ended up; or not. michael is not lighting the world on fire, and joe is fighting for his freedom – and that of his lover (and you too, victor). anyhoo, some on here have reported that the price bio-mom was absentee when her kids were growing up — i envision her doing things around the trailer park that the other girls wouldn’t do. i didn’t know she was in the military. i am envisioning lynndie england — is that close joe?

I am curious as to what motivated Joe Price to pursue a legal career. Obviously, from what I can discern, he is not from an affluent, professional class background. Was he mentored, and if so, who provided counsel and advice? From what I’ve read on this blog, Price is a controller.

I imagine Joe was of the ilk that went into the legal profession because a 1st year associate in a good firm pockets 165K. Money Money Money…Moooooney. I can’t see Joe Price devoting his energy as a public defender or a government attorney.

Back when Joe started working for the firm, starting salaries in general for large law firms were closer to $80-90k. Just nit pickin.’ And now, young lawyers are mostly getting laid off or can’t even attain those jobs.

I guess my point was that a 1st year attorney made a hell of a lot of money. 1996 or not.

I suspect he was smarter than average (at least smarter than Michael) and ambitious. Motivated to leave behind what he knew. From Texas to Japan to Massachusetts, someone along the way steered him to Wm. & Mary (maybe even a teacher) and then he figured out if he worked hard he could go to law school. CD might be right, the money, but a lot of folks in law school are there simply because they don’t know what they really want to do. My guess is more “power” than “money” (although they are related).

I’m currently at a very large international law firm. My firm has a habit of hiring floaters and secretarys that are either in school or fresh out of school. So many of them have no idea what they want to do with their English or Poly Sci degree. They ALL go to law school.

I wonder what Joe’s undergrad was?

SDI, Lynndie England waited to have kids, though, until after she had enlisted.

A little bird told me that the Price bio-mom’s first name was Vicki and that she had three boys — Joe, Michael, and David Wesley — at a very young age, young even for the early 1970s in East Texas. Now is that Vicki then the same woman that Joe wrote about “wearing combat boots” in his application to William and Mary? Or, is this Navy petty officer, referenced in the Duggan series, a different woman than Vicki?

Finally, I find it a little interesting that Joe’s bio-mom (given that the above info was correct) and “wife” had similar names: Vicki and Victor. Victor, of course, was the angel-of-the-house whom Vicki could never be. As more than one poster here has noted, Victor acted in some ways as the mother/grown-up at 1509 Swann who had to put up with two very, very bad boys.

who is this “tiger aunt” that is sheltering these girls in exclusive mclean, virginia. does l’il dyl have his own suite? the thought of these three running to the local country club pool, or to rehoboth beach, while living in this upscale community is a disgrace. justice is too slow for my taste.

All I know is that it is Victor’s aunt, fairly recently widowed, who lives in a relatively modest house (by McLean standards). WHY she is giving them a place to stay (Dylan included) is beyond me.

With Bea’s help we located the house in McLean. We’ll get something posted on it soon.

wonderful. try zwillow.com for an assessment and perhaps photos. modest by mclean standards is still probably a $2 million mansion. wonder if she bought the girls a king bed, or if 3 separate rooms are involved . . .

2600 square feet, so not huge. Still, because it’s McLean, it has an assessed value $860K. Wonder who bunks with who in Auntie’s home. Maybe the boys have their room set up like Greg, Peter and Bobby Brady.

Hmmm….2600 sq ft…..860,000K…..my guess is that it’s just a nice sized brick rambler. Fairfax County has ridiculous assessements. Am I close?

still turns my stomach that these three are living in a $860,000 luxury home while so many quality americans are struggling.

It can’t be a ‘mansion’ at 2600 square feet – and McLean is so overpriced that nearly anything there is going to be pushing a million – even ‘tear-downs’ would fetch 650-700K is my guess. Location, Location, Location.

At any rate, let us hope that it is just a temporary Elba before their legal Waterloo next May.

SDI, 2600 sq ft is tiny in Mclean. Most newer condos in the area are bigger than that.

Fairfax County has some of the highest property values in the country. A lot of money gets a lot of nothing in a lot of cases.

As Bea says “location location location.”

According to the Duggan piece, both Joe and Robert majored in public policy at William and Mary, and both probably chose the law in part as a career to gain power to help people. Both Joe and Robert did good (community service) and did well (financially). Yet, for Joe alone, that power to do good also apparently coincided with him desiring the power (having the money and connections) to circumvent conventional boundaries — as in, if a Arent-Fox partner or his Ward(s) can do it, it’s not against the law. Of course, the first rule of good public policy is that everyone, no matter how well-represented, is under the rule of law, and it’s a first-year lesson that Joe may have forgotten.
