Suburbia

Running on empty… Times are tough. This recession has been compared frequently to the Great Depression. Law firms are laying attorneys off, GM and Chrysler finally collapsed, and the Washington Post is saving paper by doing online exclusives that disenfranchise paid subscribers. Part 2 of the WaPo online exclusive did reveal that Joe and Victor had...

Neatness and Originality Count More than likely within the 4,000 comments posted here lies the key that may unlock the mystery behind the night of August 2, 2006.  We’re still trying to configure the ideal theories page here that will allow ongoing discussion, dissection and debate.  Wordpress has some limitations we need to work around, but...

Search Tools

The Blogosfear WordPress stats are limited but one feature shows incoming Google searches. Paul Duggan’s Washington Post series and Tim Arango’s piece in the New York Times triggered all sorts of search terms we saw in the dashboard. In the wake of all that ink, searches for Victor Zaborsky outnumbered those for Price or Ward by a factor of two...

The Big Hand Is On The Six

The Big Hand Is On The Six

If Victor was asleep, how did he know Robert’s arrival time? A nagging question has been how did Victor Zaborsky know that Robert arrived at 10:30 pm, when he stated that he was asleep when Robert arrived at 1509? Simple logic says that one can’t know when a person arrives and be asleep at the same time.  You can do one...

Six Minutes To Midnight

About that time line It’s not an understatement to say there are dozens of inconsistencies when comparing the defendants’ affidavit statements against each other.  Trying to match their statements to the 9-1-1 call becomes even more hypnotizing. And we thought we wouldn’t have enough material to carry the next ten months. About five minutes into the 911...

15th And Swann By Way Of 41st and 8th Our thanks to Tim Arango for his article on the media coverage of Robert’s murder.  Our continued gratitude goes to Paul Duggan for his thorough investigative work and for the time and resources he was given by the Post’s editors. New readers may familiarize themselves with the case...

From Swann Street To South Street

From Swann Street To South Street

What the Wone and Smithson Murders Do and Don’t Share Many people who hear about Robert Wone’s murder have pegged it a sex-party-gone-bad and a snap cover up, especially if you know a little about the defendants or certain behaviors in certain parts of the gay community. But if you compare both cases to that theory, you quickly...

Eye Want Candy

Everything Must Go It’s been a busy week or two and we forgot to mark another important date on the calender, June 7.  Just over two years  ago, Joe Price registered the domain for eyecandydvds.com, a shop for adult novelties and videos. Joe must have been pretty optimistic in June 2007, ten months after the murder; he...

An Eerie Resemblance?

An Eerie Resemblance?

How Similar Is Philly’s Gay Sex Crime With Swann Street’s? Two hours to the north of Swann Street in the suburbs of Philadelphia a gay sex crime occurred with an eerie resemblance to the murder of Robert Wone.  As a former resident of Philadelphia, this is unfortunate because the home of the world champion Phillies and Frank Rizzo...

Post Mortem

Bye Lines Only recently have the Washington Post obituaries been signed by its writers; Robert’s did not carry a by-line in August of 2006. Having read the Duggan series, the man who penned that obit, Matt Schudel, shared his thoughts. In Post Mortem, the paper’s obit blog he recalled of speaking with a stoic Kathy Wone as he prepared the piece. “One...

Purpose of this Site

On August 2nd, 2006, Washington attorney Robert E. Wone was murdered at 1509 Swann Street. Over two years passed before any criminal charges were filed - and then only conspiracy, obstruction of justice and crime scene tampering charges were brought against the Swann Street housemates, all present in the home on the night of the murder: Joe Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky.

On May 17, 2010, a DC Superior Court trial got underway and all three defendants were all acquitted in that bench trial on those pending charges.

Nearly four years later, very little seems clear about what happened that night and who murdered Robert Wone. A cloud of suspicion remains over the Swann Street defendants who have denied any involvement in the murder of their friend or in the alleged cover up.

Judge Lynn Leibovitz found a moral certainty in their collective guilt, but not evidentiary certainty. Civil proceedings in a wrongful death suit filed by Robert's family is the next chapter in this tragic story.

We continue to work together seeking answers to the mystery of Robert Wone's murder and in finding justice for his memory and legacy.
