A Small Price
In August 2007, one year after the murder of Robert Wone, Dylan Ward’s attorney David Schertler said “Nobody wants the intruder to be identified and arrested more than these three men.” He was referring to occupants of 1509 Swann Street which includes Joseph Price, Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward. We take David Schertler at his word.
And because we do, it stands to reason that these three men would then be out in front of any and all efforts to locate the intruder, the real murderer according to them. Yet we cannot locate a single account of a public effort that they have made. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Maybe friends of the defendants could help us out here, and let us know for certain as David Schertler’s remarks suggest that finding the intruder is a pressing priority for the three defendants.

Murder reward posters, done by the DC Metropolitan Police Department are a common sight on lamp posts and utility boxes along DC’s streets and sidewalks. Last Saturday we distributed posters of our own modeled on those, since the MPD never made one for Robert Wone. He still hasn’t made it to the DC unsolved homicide public database more than two weeks after we noted the omission. Those at MPD may not be readers but a photographer with Borderstan noticed the efforts.
On the 1500 block of Swann, we know that according to at least one neighbor we weren’t the first to go door-to-door asking about the evening of August 2, 2006. But it wasn’t the MPD who beat us to the punch. Instead we were told that it was private investigators who first came around to ask questions, not Johnny Law. Admittedly, after more then two and half years, we are late to the game. But are others even later?
So we ask what efforts are you aware of that have been made to find the intruder or murderer, whichever the case. And it doesn’t have to just be what the defendants have done; we’re also interested in actions by their friends, family, DC Police, private investigators, or other citizens.
It was a simple effort on our part but was it too complicated for those with the most at stake? What does this say about the Metropolitan Police Department? What does this say about the defendants, who clearly have a vested interest in finding the intruder – the person who butchered their friend?
We welcome any help distributing more of these in DC.

If I were innocent and being falsely accused I would be spending day and night trying to find the intruder, offering reward money, canvassing neighborhoods, holding rallys……the whole nine yards.
The three men do not act innocent.
Kinda reminds me of O.J. He really seemed to go all-out looking for his wife’s murderer. Not.

Perhaps you should apply to America’s Most Wanted to get the case featured. Sometimes they pick cases in which the person has not yet been identified.
I thought of the OJ case too. OJ trying to flee to Mexico and hanging out on the golf links, all the while trying to find the ‘true killer.’
Good work, guys! Keep on putting up the flyers. Maybe someone with helpful info will come forward.
Totally encouraging that people are taking the tip numbers. Hopefully, as soon as the trio starts partying/drugging again (mandatory drug testing, you know), one of them will spill something inadvertently. I wonder if ketamine makes you sing like a bird?
Have these posters been posted around 6th and Mass (around the DC Eagle)?
